Ian R. Goza

About:

My name is Ian Goza. I am a Manhattan Resident, history educator, and tour guide with a passion for facilitating experiences that engage with New York’s vibrant past. I am a licensed sightseeing guide with 2 years of experience giving guided walking tours.

Currently I am an educator at the South Street Seaport Museum where I facilitate guided tours aboard three different historic ships,  museum gallery spaces, as well as walking tours through the financial district and waterfront of Lower Manhattan. In this role I have been able to engage diverse audiences of students, educators, families, and fellow enthusiasts of local history.

I have over 6 years of experience as an educator in schools, but leading student learning outside of the classroom as an environmental educator and museum educator awakened my passion for experiential learning. I firmly believe that people of all ages can be inspired when they are engaged to learn about the world around them.

As the 250th anniversary of America’s founding and the 400th anniversary of Manhattan’s “purchase” arrive this year, I want to be the guide that facilitates a deeper meaning and understanding about our past.

I graduated from Hendrix College where I double majored in history and French.
